Reports say that Indian small car exports grew by 44% in the last seven months, and China saw a drop in small car exports by almost 60%. Not just China, even Thailand and South Korea have seen drastic fall in their exports of entry level cars. Though India is nowhere close to Japan or South Korea in terms of absolute numbers of cars exported, but it sure has carved a niche for small car manufacturing in the past one year. India has already outnumbered China even in terms of total cars exported. This has been a reality check for China, which was until now the leader in manufacturing and exports among the developing economies.

Date: May 28th ’09, Time: 8:15 AM, Place: San Diego, California This was the moment when Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, took centre stage to launch a product, they believed would challenge the very forte Google operated in. The name was BING (reportedly it stands for Bing Is Not Google). A little problem to the big executive launch though – bing.com site wasnt LIVE! It took a while for the news to spread, but when it did, MS was in an embarassing mess of a lifetime. Why? The news about a team of Sydney based Google Engineers giving a developer’s DEMO at the Google IO Conference in San Fransisco, California about something exciting came in. Eyes swayed right angles from San Diego to San Fransisco. A Wave swept MS right off its feet, that too on its D-Day. Google had come up with one of the most exciting and promising products in a long span of tech history – Google Wave. Continue Reading →

CADBURY DESERVES MORE: Kraft had offered Cadbury almost 16 times its prior year earnings. Mars had offered Wrigley almost 18 times on a similar deal last year. Looking at the value which Cadbury will add to Kraft’s dying market and given that Cadbury ranks among top two globally in most of its businesses, Kraft should offer Cadbury at least 19-20 times of Cadbury’s last year’s earnings. Going by this rule, Kraft should offer Cadbury a deal of at least £12.5bn. This means that Kraft will be evaluating each Cadbury share at a price of 913p, which is 22.6% higher than the previous evaluation of 745p. This new price is 16% higher even than the current share price of 786p.

After our initial analysis on the eBay sellout, we felt the need to go further and determine how this development would affect Skype and its ever-growing popularity. Skype has always been considered a proverbial sore in eBay’s scheme of things, by its shareholders and market analysts alike. What we haven’t focused on is the negative impact that eBay would have had on Skype, if it had stayed on with eBay. Although it has been doing phenomenally well with a 400 million user base and projected revenue of US $1 bn by 2011, without the technology, it would fizzle and the dream-run would end.

Its ironical rather satirical even to pop the above question. A technological leap that was unleashed in Europe as early as 2003 is still an eyecandy to the Indian consumers. 3G is the successor to the currently employed GSM network that we have today. Transition from 2G/2.5G/2.75G, better understood as GSM/GPRS/EDGE to 3G is like the one that we underwent when we moved from landlines to cellphones.
